PAGE 1 of a 20 page comic for my sequential imaging class. Assignment: Reinterpret the “Alas poor Yorick” graveyard scene from Hamlet in any way you choose.
This is an adventure to see if I can make ridiculous ideas make sense.

Book cover for Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle - an illustration class assignment.
The right image would be printed on the book cover, and the left image is what it would look like with its semi-transparent jacket on top of it.

Billboard Art Project: Richmond

If you live in Richmond, you should check out the Billboard Art Project on the west side of I95 (this link will lead you to a map). I have a few pieces in it, and if you’re driving by around 7PM, 7AM, 1PM or 1AM this week you might see them! (Next week they’ll be up around 4 AM, 10 AM, 4 PM, and 10 PM.) If mine aren’t up, you’ll see some of the hundreds of other images submitted by artists both local and global, from grade schools to professionals. It’s a pretty cool project, and worth a glimpse.

REPEAT

CHECK IT OUT! I’ve been picked as a contestant in REPEAT, a pattern design competition run by The Printed Bolt, a quilting blog. Each month I’ll be responding to a challenge and posting a blog entry. It’s elimination-style, so if I’m lucky I’ll be in it until August, but a couple people get zapped with each challenge…! I’ll be putting updates up on here and on facebook, so if you’re seeing this now you probably won’t be able to avoid following along ~

The first challenge: tiny dwellings

A commission from a while ago. There’s some changes I would make to this if I was to do it again - making the “N” in “No” more legible and less like a D, for one. Also neatening up the lowercase bits - they get a little allovertheplace. I’m pretty happy with the overall composition though, and I want to play more with whimsical lettering. That’ll be happening soon, too, in the form of a little something for batty. c:
